India and the United Kingdom reinforced their commitment to jointly tackle evolving global challenges during Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan’s official visit to the UK, marked by high-level military and strategic engagements.
During his visit, General Chauhan held talks with his British counterpart, Richard Knighton, with discussions centred on expanding bilateral cooperation across areas such as cyber security, intelligence sharing, and joint military exercises.
Both sides highlighted a shared resolve to address pressing issues ranging from global trade disruptions to emerging cyber threats, while working towards a stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific and leveraging rapid technological advancements.
The visit highlighted growing strategic alignment between New Delhi and London, particularly in modern warfare capabilities and economic resilience. It is expected to further strengthen defence cooperation and reinforce shared commitments to global security and stability.
General Chauhan also engaged with key leaders from the UK’s defence industry, emphasising the importance of deeper economic integration to support defence manufacturing, technology transfer, and resilient supply chains. He stressed the need for collaboration in co-design, co-development, and co-production of critical technologies.
As part of the visit, he met Seema Malhotra and chaired a roundtable with senior officials and experts on India’s military transformation.
In a ceremonial gesture, the CDS laid a wreath at the Memorial Gates in London, honouring fallen soldiers and reflecting shared military traditions between the two nations.
This marks the first official visit by an Indian Chief of Defence Staff to the United Kingdom and the fifth major military engagement between the two countries this year, signalling an intensifying defence partnership. |
