Celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib, his family, and associates have all been booked by police in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly duping people of crores of rupees. Around 23 cases have been registered against Habib, his wife, and his son, according to Sambhal Superintendent of Police Krishnan Bishnoi. Police have issued a lookout notice against Habib and his son.
What is the case about?

The authorities say that the case appears to involve fraud of ₹5 to ₹7 crores. Victims have continued to file complaints, and the number is expected to rise. The investigations conducted so far have revealed a scam worth up to ₹1 crore.

The FIRs were filed against Jawed, his son Anosh Habib, and their associate Saiful. SP Bishnoi, while speaking to Ani, said that the three individuals operated as a gang. "They took Rs. 5–7 lakh in cash from people and lured them into investing. A case has been registered in the matter. A total of 35 people filed complaints," he added.
In September, the hairstylist and his son were booked in an alleged cryptocurrency scam. The fraud was carried out under the banner of Follicle Global Company.
The scam took place in 2023 after the the FLC arranged an event at the Royal Palace Banquet Hall in the Sarayatrin area in Sambhal. The event was hosted by Jawad and his son. They promised investers 50 to 75 per cent returns within a short span through investment in Bitcoin and Binance Coin. 150 people had attended the event and many of them invested lakhs.
After a few months the company vanished from the market. Saifullah who was a local in-charge of the company had stopped responding to the investors. It was after that several victims began approaching the police, with a surge of complaints this year.
Investigations have revealed that the Habib’s wife is the founder of the company, which is now under scrutiny for its assets and digital transactions.
The Superintendent of Police said that their property may be confiscated under Section 107 In the BNS if the accused fail to repay the victims. Police are on the look for the three accused.
