Inox Air Products, a producer of industrial and electronic gases in India, has announced a major strategic investment to support the country’s growing semiconductor and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) industries.
The company has acquired a significant land parcel in Dholera, Gujarat, to build an Electronic Speciality Gas Hub. The facility, currently in an advanced planning stage, will produce and supply ultra-high purity (UHP) bulk and speciality gases, including nitrogen, oxygen, argon and hydrogen, critical for advanced semiconductor fabrication. The hub is being designed as both a production and fulfilment centre, ensuring reliable and contamination-free delivery to fabs and OSAT units across India.
The Rs 500 crore investment is aimed at expanding gas purification capacities, developing import-linked supply chains for critical gases, and deploying advanced transport and packaging solutions. The initiative aligns with Inox Air Products’ long-term strategy to become a key enabler of India’s high-tech manufacturing ecosystem, supporting next-generation semiconductor and electronics production.
Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of Inox Air Products, said, “Inox Air Products is proud to invest in Dholera, reinforcing our commitment to building a future-ready, self-reliant supply chain for India’s semiconductor ambitions. With the Hub, we are laying the foundation for a self-reliant supply chain that can power global chipmakers and electronics manufacturers choosing India for fabs."
He added that with a pan-India footprint and decades of operational excellence, we are deploying the full breadth of our engineering and execution capabilities to create world-class infrastructure. "This initiative aligns closely with the vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, enabling India to compete at a global scale.”
Inox Air Products is already supporting India’s first semiconductor facility in Gujarat, supplying ultra-high purity gases with contamination-free delivery. The company also operates six large Air Separation Units in Gujarat producing liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon, servicing industrial gas requirements for sectors including semiconductors and solar cells.
Through its national presence and global partnership with Air Products, Inox Air Products is positioned to meet the reliability, safety and quality standards demanded by the world’s most advanced chipmakers.
Specialty and bulk gases are essential to semiconductor fabrication, playing a crucial role in etching, deposition, doping, and chamber cleaning. Ultra-high purity is necessary to maintain wafer integrity, optimise device performance, and improve fabrication yield.
