Northern India is going to see significant weather changes from January 24 — with the India Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rain and snow for many areas. Temperatures have also dropped sharply as a fresh cold wave swept through the region. The latest IMD forecast flagged the high risk of fog in several northern states and warned of additional weather activity next week.
The latest forecast from IMD says that the amount of rain and snow over the Western Himalayan region, which includes Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, is likely to drop to isolated to scattered light to moderate rain and snow on January 24 and 25. After this short break, there will be more rain and snow falling in a lot of places on January 27 and then scattered rain and snow on January 28. The agency has also said that Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh may see heavy rain or snow on January 27. The northwest plains next door may see light to moderate rain or snow in some areas during the same time.
Dense fog for Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh

Foggy weather is likely to continue to be a major worry. During the morning and night of January 24–26, IMD has warned of thick to very thick fog in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. There is also a possibility of fog in some parts of Himachal Pradesh from January 24 to 26, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh until January 25, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until January 26.

RWFC Delhi also says that there is a good chance of dense to very dense fog over Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. A yellow alert has been issued for the area.

The IMD has also said that cold waves could hit some parts of Himachal Pradesh on January 25 and 26. This could make things even colder in higher elevations.
Delhi weather update

The Delhi-NCR had foggy weather after some rain, which helped lower pollution levels. As per the forecast, there might be cloudy sky, with temperatures expected to vary around 16-18 degrees Celsius maximum and 6-8 degrees Celsius minimum.  There may also be surface winds that pick up at times. The forecast also says that fog will likely stay around in the mornings for the next few days.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with lightning in Kerala and Mahe on January 26, but not in North India. It also said that there would be rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with some heavy periods.

IMD warning for snow and rain in Himachal Pradesh

According to ANI, the IMD has issued a new warning for more snow and rain in Himachal Pradesh. This means that problems like slippery roads, traffic jams, and fuel shortages will continue. The IMD expects a Western Disturbance to hit Himachal Pradesh on January 26. This will bring several periods of moderate to heavy snowfall and snowstorms to several districts over the next few days.
