Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a probe after a sleaze video allegedly involving Karnataka DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao went viral on social media. The chief minister said necessary action will be taken based on the probe.
"We will get it investigated," said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. "I got to know about it in the morning. We will initiate disciplinary action against him. No one is above law, notwithstanding how senior the police officer is," the chief minister added.

The video, allegedly showing the senior Karnataka cadre officer in comprising position with women in his office went viral on social media on Monday. Rao is the stepfather of Harshavardhini Ranya alias Ranya Rao, arrested in a sensational gold smuggling case and currently lodged in the Bengaluru Central Jail.
Though Rao attempted to meet Home Minister G. Parameshwara and clarify his position, the minister refused to meet the officer. Rao denied the allegations and called it "fabricated and false."
Rao told reporters, "I am also thinking how and when it happened and who has done it. In this era anything can happen. I have no idea about it." The senior officer said he would discuss with advocates on next course of action. "I am shocked. It is all fabricated, lie. The video is all false. I have no idea about it," he added.

Karnataka Woman and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar also asserted that stern action will be taken.
Senior BJP MLA and former Minister S. Suresh Kumar termed the incident "an inexcusable crime".
"Rao has committed an act that has brought a blot on the entire police department. The act committed by this senior officer, in uniform and within his own office, has made people view the police department itself with suspicion and doubt," Kumar said in a statement.
