A preliminary 5.7 magnitude earthquakeshook the Leh-Ladakhregion just before noon on Monday, January 19, according to an official message issued by the National Center for Seismology.
As per the official notice shared by the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity, the quake struck at 11:51:14 am IST. With Leh Ladakh as the epicentre, the earthquake had a depth of 171 km.
No immediate reports of damage of casualties came to light.
