A 26-year-old engineer died on Wednesday after falling from a 16th-floor apartment in Bengaluru‘s Bagalagunte area. The police has stated that it is still not clear whether his death was a suicide or an accidental fall. The Indian Express report says that the investigation is still underway.
Who was Nikshep K Bangera?
Police have identified the deceased as Nikshep K Bangera, an engineering graduate who had pursued his education in Europe and later returned to Bengaluru. According to police and family members, he used to stay with his parents and sister at the Prince Town apartment complex in the Yeshwanthpur-Shettihalli area. As per the Indian Express report, he returned to the city around six years ago, after which his family noticed significant changes in his behaviour. He has returned to India to start working after finishing his studies.

Police stated that Bangera had been diagnosed with psychological issues and was undergoing treatment. He has also shown aggressive tendencies in the past and was advised to take his medication regularly. A report from NDTV stated that his father informed police that Bangera had been suffering from schizophrenia for a few years.
On Wednesday morning, Bangera reportedly informed his mother that he was going to the Sri Ranganatha Gowda Math in Hesaraghatta. NDTV quoted his father as saying Bangera had called him at around 5 am and told him he would come back home soon. However, at around 8:30 am, the president of the apartment, identified as Ravi, contacted Bangera’s family and asked them to come to the building’s ground floor. When the family reached the spot, they found Bangera lying there, police said.

Police register unnatural death case
The apartment’s security staff immediately informed the police control room by calling 112. Personnel from the Bagalagunte police station reached the incident site and carried out preliminary investigations. Bangera’s father later approached the police and lodged a complaint mentioning that his son had been suffering from mental illness for several years and that he had no suspicion of foul play, as per the Indian Express.
Police have registered an unnatural death report and have sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the reason behind the death. Further probing is underway.
