A heated debate is raging on social media between fans of Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas, largely drawing lines between North and South India.
The discussion was reignited after Siddharth Anand’s tweet comparing the two icons.
While SRK has ruled Bollywood for decades as the “King of Romance,” Prabhas’s stature today extends far beyond linguistic or regional boundaries.
SRK, undeniably, remains one of India’s most charismatic entertainers, admired for his discipline and fitness even at 60. However, his strongest fan base lies in the Hindi-speaking regions.
In contrast, Prabhas enjoys pan-Indian acceptance across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi audiences alike. His blockbusters Baahubali 2 and Kalki 2898 AD each crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark, setting new national benchmarks.
Although SRK achieved similar success with Pathaan and Jawan in terma of Rs 1000+Cr collections, the South didn’t embrace those films with the same ownership shown toward Baahubali 2.
Hence, if Shah Rukh Khan is rightly celebrated as India’s “King,” then Prabhas, with his unparalleled national appeal, truly deserves the title of “Emperor.” |
