Promoters of Alkem Laboratories offloaded a 1.5 per cent stake worth around Rs 930 crore through open market transactions on June 2, with several domestic and global investors acquiring the shares.
Alkem Laboratories shares fell 1.42 per cent to Rs 5,239 on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday, extending losses for a second consecutive session.
According to exchange data, promoter group member Jayanti Sinha exited the company by selling her entire 1.04 per cent stake, comprising 12.38 lakh shares, for Rs 643.87 crore. Separately, Samprada & Nanhamati Singh Family Trust sold 5.5 lakh shares worth Rs 286 crore.
The transactions were executed at a price of Rs 5,200 per share.
Sarandhar Singh, representing Samprada & Nanhamati Singh Family Trust, continues to hold an 18.75 per cent stake in the pharmaceutical company.
The shares sold by the promoters were acquired by nine domestic and international investors. ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and HDFC Mutual Fund emerged as the largest buyers, purchasing 9.03 lakh shares worth Rs 469.83 crore and 5.09 lakh shares worth Rs 265 crore, respectively.
DSP Mutual Fund acquired 86,538 shares for Rs 45 crore. BNP Paribas Arbitrage, Societe Generale, Nippon India Mutual Fund, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe and Edelweiss Mutual Fund each purchased 48,090 shares worth Rs 25 crore.
As of March 2026, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, HDFC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund and Nippon India Mutual Fund held 3.1 per cent, 4.06 per cent, 1.45 per cent and 1.93 per cent stakes in Alkem Laboratories, respectively.
In a separate transaction, Axis Mutual Fund sold 2.66 lakh shares of Neogen Chemicals worth Rs 47.56 crore at a price of Rs 1,788.01 per share.
Despite the stake sale, shares of Neogen Chemicals rose 3.71 per cent to Rs 1,876.90 on the National Stock Exchange.
