Focus On Grid Stability And Energy Storage
Officials discussed strategies to expand battery storage deployment to help manage intermittency from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. Battery energy storage systems are increasingly being viewed as critical for ensuring reliable electricity supply, balancing peak demand and stabilising power grids as renewable energy capacity grows.
The meeting also focused on upgrading transmission infrastructure to support efficient power evacuation and improve connectivity between renewable energy generation centres and consumption hubs. India has been rapidly increasing renewable energy capacity, creating additional pressure on grid management and transmission networks.
Government ministries and agencies are working on policy support, financing mechanisms and infrastructure planning to accelerate deployment of storage systems and grid modernisation projects. Industry experts believe battery storage will play a major role in enabling round the clock renewable energy supply and reducing dependence on conventional thermal power.
