MakeMyTrip has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to enhance its Myra platform, bringing more intuitive, AI-driven and accessible travel planning experiences to millions of Indian travellers.
Through the collaboration, MakeMyTrip will leverage Google Cloud’s suite of advanced AI technologies — including Gemini, Vertex AI, and Google Maps — to make trip planning faster, more accurate, and deeply personalised. The enhanced Myra platform will use grounded data from verified sources to generate bespoke itineraries based on individual traveller preferences, going beyond traditional chatbot-based planning systems.
The upgraded Myra introduces several key capabilities, including intuitive destination discovery, personalised itinerary generation, and multimodal trip planning.
Under intuitive destination discovery, travellers can explore new locations aligned with their preferred travel themes — from adventure and romance to wellness, tranquillity or pilgrimage. Integrating with Google’s Nearby Search, Maps, Places API, Gemini, and other data sources, Myra will deliver recommendations enriched with insights on local weather, cuisine, attractions, and commuting options, ensuring itineraries that are both relevant and context-aware.
In personalised itinerary generation, MakeMyTrip has developed proprietary AI models complemented by Google’s advanced family of models, including Gemini, open models like Gemma, and generative models such as Veo and Imagen. Together, these enable travellers to create robust, visually enriched itineraries optimised for time and budget while maintaining the flexibility to adapt their plans dynamically.
The platform’s multimodal trip-planning feature further enhances accessibility and engagement. Travellers can interact through text, audio, or visual inputs in regional languages, making planning inclusive and conversational. With support from Imagen and Video for immersive visuals and grounding on Google Maps for place accuracy, Myra transforms the process into an interactive, sensory experience.
“Planning and booking travel has become increasingly complex, with travellers expecting more choice, faster service, and experiences tailored to their unique preferences and constraints,” said Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip. “Our goal has always been to remove that complexity and make every step of travel simple, personal, and stress-free for all Indians, regardless of destination or budget. Our partnership with Google Cloud allows us access to AI capabilities that will let us innovate faster, personalise at scale, and introduce new features that keep improving over time so we can deliver delightful journeys for our millions of customers.”
Commenting on the collaboration, Karan Bajwa, President, Asia Pacific, Google Cloud, added, “Online travel is one of the most demanding and fast-moving spaces, where customer expectations are constantly rising. MakeMyTrip’s strategy to put AI at the core of its platform addresses these challenges head on. By combining the company’s deep understanding of travellers with our generative AI and richer content capabilities, it is creating more personalised and seamless experiences, while building a flexible foundation for future innovation.”
Through this partnership, MakeMyTrip and Google Cloud aim to redefine how travellers in India discover, plan and book their journeys — making travel planning not just convenient, but inspiring and deeply personal. |
