Ashok Leyland Bags Order For 1,937 Buses From Tamil Nadu State Transport Underta ...
Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and a commercial vehicle manufacturer, has bagged an order from TNSTU’s (Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings) for 1,937 buses. Ashok Leyland has more than 21,000 buses operational in TNSTU’s fleet.These buses will be specially designed to ensure outstanding passenger comfort and will be equipped with the advanced iGen6 BS VI technology. The order includes a diverse mix of fully built and chassis configurations tailored for town, mofussil, and SETC applications. Each vehicle is built on the latest AIS 153-compliant chassis platform, meeting the most recent Indian safety and performance regulations while enhancing structural integrity, ride comfort, and vehicle reliability.

The new Viking and SETC models offer enhanced performance, safety, and passenger comfort. All Town / Mofussil and SETC buses feature an upgraded Battery and Alternator for meeting the power needs of advanced ITMS. High-speed Mofussil and SETC buses come with Electronic Stability Control for improved stability and safety. Urban Low Entry and Semi Low Floor buses (650mm) enhance driver comfort through Auto Transmission, and passenger experience with air suspension, optimized floor heights, and comfortable interiors for smoother commutes. These buses are equipped with wheel chair ramp for smooth access for passengers with special needs.
