Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on Saturday, said in the wake of the tragedy that unfolded in Karur, the state is planning to formulate a SOP (standard operating procedure)  for such gatherings to prevent stampede-like situations in the future.
The chief minister urged everyone to stop playing the political blame game over the incident.
He assured that a standard operating procedure will be formulated in consultation with experts, political parties, activists, and people to prevent stampedes during such gatherings. This SOP will become a model for the whole country, the CM added.
Against the backdrop of the tragedy, "let us unite to save the lives of our people and prevent such a tragedy from happening again, not only in Tamil Nadu, but anywhere in India," the chief minister said in a tweet.
Underlining that every life is precious, Stalin welcomed ideas and suggestions towards the collective effort to prevent stampedes by formulating SOP.
